Värna (Sweden)
„Värna is a non-profit association based on the anthroposophical initiative of curative education and social therapy.“
An association consisting of 34 member organisations, whose foremost ambition is to participate in developing good living and working conditions for people with mental disabilities.
Since 1935, curative education and social therapy have constantly been challenging and influencing for the better Sweden´s policies regarding mental disabilities. Today, Värna emphasizes the need for a humanistic system of values and the need for co-workers to be fully educated, not only in practical matters, but also in the vision of the dignity of the human being.
The member organisations of Värna are especially known for their consciously designed environments and how they focus on individual life within a community by promoting a creative lifestyle and the importance of meaningful and rewarding work.
